’90 Day Fiance’ Star David Murphey Dead Following Cancer Battle
David Murphey, a former star of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days passed away on December 11, 2024, at the age of 66, following a battle with liver cancer.
His family announced his passing via his Instagram account, stating:
“We are deeply saddened to announce that David Murphey, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away at home on December 11, 2024, after experiencing health issues over the last several years. He was 66 years old.”
David Murphey was a veteran, small business owner, and software engineer. He had recently retired from the Clark County Treasurer’s office in Nevada, having also worked for H&R Block and IGT.
Diagnosed with liver cancer a year prior, Murphey underwent 13 surgeries and was scheduled for another before his passing. In addition to liver cancer, he faced other health challenges, including issues with his gallbladder, pancreas, and kidneys.
David Murphey gained fame on Season 4 of the TLC reality series 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, where he pursued a relationship with Lana, a woman he met on a Ukrainian dating website. He proposed to her during the show, but the couple eventually parted ways.
Beyond his television appearance, Murphey was known for his deep affection for cats. His family noted, “He always made an effort to adopt cats and give them a good loving home,” adding that he frequently adopted from The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas.
In their statement, his family expressed, “David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans,” and requested privacy during this difficult time. They also encouraged those wishing to honor his memory to make donations to The Animal Foundation in his name.
David Murphey is survived by his two sisters and his beloved cat, Gamera.
