Harbhajan Singh takes a brutal dig at Saeed Ajmal

Indian spin legend Harbhajan Singh heaped praise on ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his performance against Australia during the third Test match. Harbhajan Singh also took a sly dig at former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal while commenting, saying, Jasprit “Bumrah is science, man!” in the commentary box.

Rain interrupted play on Day 1 of the third Test match in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with only 13.2 overs bowled. On Day 2, Jasprit Bumrah quickly removed both Australian openers, Usman Khawaja (21) and Nathan McSweeney (9). Marnus Labuschagne (12) was dismissed by Nitish Kumar Reddy.

What Da Science, Science Is the Man – Saeed Ajmal

Harbhajan Singh, while commentating in Hindi for Star Sports, poked fun at Saeed Ajmal’s famous 2021 interview with Usman Khawaja. In the interview, Ajmal questioned the ICC’s ban on bowling, stating, “Science is the man.” The interview went viral in 2021 and continues to resurface on social media.

Ajmal had said, “I ready the guys like within a month any youngster can bowl doosra within 15 degrees but ICC ban straight away said nobody can bowl, science said, why science f*** man, what da science, science is the man.”

Jasprit Bumrah Is Science, Man – Harbhajan Singh

Taking a cue from that conversation, Harbhajan Singh described Jasprit Bumrah as “science” during commentary. Harbhajan humorously said, “Bumrah is science, man. He’s a great scientist.” He added that Bumrah’s unique skill set sets him apart, making it difficult for batters to face him.

“Bumrah is science, man,” Harbhajan said.

“I saw an interview of Saeed Ajmal with Khawaja where he was speaking about science. He said, ‘What is science man? Man in science.’ So, Bumrah is science. He is a great scientist. The point at which science fails, his work begins from there,” he added.

“Bumrah knows how to target a batter. He’s a true artist and his art is to pitch the ball at the right area. But Khawaja doesn’t know how to play this bowler. His skillset is completely different and his numbers speak volumes about his talent,” Harbhajan concluded.

Jasprit Bumrah Adds Another Five-Wicket Haul to His Test Career

Harbhajan Singh’s comment came during a discussion with Jatin Sapru about Jasprit Bumrah’s dominance over Nathan McSweeney. It is worth mentioning that, as Harbhajan finished explaining Bumrah’s brilliance, the pacer dismissed McSweeney for the fourth time in the ongoing Test series in Australia.

Travis Head and Steven Smith added a 241-run stand for the fourth wicket. Head smashed 152 off 160 balls, while Smith scored 101 off 190 balls. At the time of writing, Australia was 397/7 after 99 overs, with Alex Carey (43) and Mitchell Starc (2) at the crease. Jasprit Bumrah has taken five wickets so far.
