Virat Kohli ordered to hit two more centuries in BGT 2024-25 by Ex-BCCI chief selector

Former BCCI selector Chetan Sharma has backed premier batter Virat Kohli to come out good in the remaining two games of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He said that his prediction of the batter scoring three tons in the series will come true as he will hit two more centuries.

India National Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli has come under the pump yet again for his failures in Test cricket. The premier batter started the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 on high as he slammed a magnificent century in Perth and it seemed that he would set the stage on fire.

Virat Kohli has managed just 26 runs after his century in Perth

However, after that century, his graph witnessed the down line as the batter failed to get going in the last two matches of the series. The demons of the outside off-stump line have yet again come to haunt him as he bagged a series of low scores in the last four innings.

After Kohli scored a magnificent century in Perth, it was expected that he would have a big series. But it has been the exact opposite of that, as he has looked clueless in the last two games, which took place at Adelaide and the Gabba.

Following his 100-run knock in Perth, Kohli has managed just 26 runs, and this no doubt is a serious concern for him with the series on the line. The batter would want to turn the tables around in the last two games as runs from him are need of the hour for the India National Cricket Team.

Let’s hope he scores two more centuries in the next two matches – Chetan Sharma on Virat Kohli

Chetan Sharma, despite the poor form of Kohli, has come out in favor of the premier batter to score runs in the last two games of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He batted for Kohli to hit two more centuries in the last two matches, saying that his prediction would come true. Speaking to ANI, he explained:

“He is a player who has achieved so much for us, which raises our expectations. I am confident he will perform well. Let’s hope he scores two more centuries in the next two matches. I had predicted before the series that he would score three centuries in Australia.”

Virat Kohli has struggled to get going with bat in 2024

Overall 2024 hasn’t been a great year for Virat Kohli at all. In the 9 games that he has played so far, the premier batter has mustered 376 runs at an average of 25.06, with his highest score being 100 not out. In this cycle of WTC, he has 687 runs in 12 matches, averaging 36.15, with two centuries and three fifties.

The numbers suggest that Virat Kohli hasn’t been at his best in the Tests. However, he will be having a golden opportunity to turn the tables around in the last two games of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, set to be played at MCG and SCG.
