Serhii Bohachuk is upbeat about remaining on this Saturday’s card in Riyadh after his previously scheduled opponent, Israil Madrimov, pulled out of the contest. The former WBC interim junior middleweight champion Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) will face Ismael Davis (13-1, 6 KOs) in the 12-round co-feature slot on the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk rematch in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Undercard Quality
Even with Madrimov pulling out of the fight, Bohachuk vs. Davis is still by far the best match on the Fury-Usyk 2 card. There’s nothing on the undercard once you get past the Bohachuk fight, which is sad. Ishmael Davis stands zero chance of beating Bohachuk, but he’ll give it a good try before getting mowed down in six rounds. Davis can’t punch, and he’s just British-level.
Fury-Usyk 2 Undercard
Serhii Bohachuk vs. Ishmael Davis
Daniel Lapin vs. Dylan Colin
Andrii Novytskyi vs. Edgar Ramirez
Isaac Lowe vs. Lee McGregor
Moses Itauma vs. Demsey McKean
Johnny Fisher vs. David Allen
It’s a dismal card slanted toward British fans, and we’re talking ultra-hardcore, nerdy fans. They’re not overly happy with the lackluster fights, mostly domestic-level fighters who will never be champions or even contenders. Surprisingly, Turki Alalshikh didn’t draw the line with the promoters, and this will NOT happen. If I were the money man, I’d laugh the promoters out of the room if they offered me these same fights.
Madrimov came down with a case of acute bronchitis, which raised the eyebrows of disbelieving fans. He’ll be fighting Vergil Ortiz Jr. on February 22nd in Riyadn.
Bohachuk-Davis could steal the show from the main event Fury-Usyk 2 rematch at the Kingdom Arena if they go to war on Saturday night. The former WBC interim junior middleweight champion Bohachuk’s fight against Vergil Ortiz Jr. on August 10th was one of the most exciting fights this year, as both guys were throwing bombs.
Vergil Jr. fell apart by the eighth round after getting dropped for the second time by Bohachuk. After that knockdown, Ortiz Jr. got on his bike and went into survival mode for the final four rounds to win a controversial 12-round majority decision. Most would agree that Vergil Jr. didn’t win, but it was Las Vegas; it goes with the territory.
Bohachuk Unfazed
“I have good opponent, I have good show. Of course, I’m upset at) Madrimov. Now it’s okay, I have an opponent, I have a show,” said Serhii Bohachuk to Fight Hub TV, reacting to Israil Madrimov pulling out of their fight this Saturday, December 21st, in Riyadh.
Ishmael Davis lost his last fight to Josh Kelly by a 12-round majority decision on September 21st on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in London. It’s unknown why Turki didn’t use Kelly as Bohachuk’s opponent rather than the guy he beat, Davis.
That would have made much more sense, but even Kelly would be a poor choice. Bohachuk would destroy him as well as Davis, and he’s definitely going to make easy work of him on Saturday. This is a terrible mismatch.
