‘RHOBH’ RECAP: Dorit Kemsley and Sutton Stracke Face Off in Explosive Sprinter Van Showdown
The December 10 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the girls’ Oceanside getaway hits a snag when a tense confrontation between Dorit and Kyle leaves them at a standstill. During a boat trip, Garcelle struggles with the thought of her kids leaving home. Sutton offers support to Dorit as she navigates the challenges of her separation. At the final dinner, Boz and Erika question the future of the group, while Sutton attempts to unite the women through sisterhood.
Dorit and Kyle Bicker Over Friendship
The December 10 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills picks right back up with Dorit Kemsley and Kyle Richards going at it over the demise of their friendship. Dorit starts by accusing Kyle of having two sets of rules — one for herself and one for everyone else. She recalls Kyle’s past criticisms, including mocking her Capri Room, and Kyle responds by defending herself, mentioning the struggles she’s been facing with her best friend’s suicide and her ongoing divorce. Dorit, however, argues she has been patient but is tired of being treated poorly, claiming that Kyle punishes her by icing her out.
Sutton Stracke interjects, mentioning that Kyle has also frozen her out, and tries to calm the situation by reminding the group that Kyle has vowed to work on her behavior. In an unexpected turn, Kyle admits to icing people out and apologizes for her past actions, including her comment about Dorit on Amazon Live. While some might doubt the sincerity of her apology, Kyle acknowledges her issues, taking responsibility for them.
However, Dorit refuses to follow suit. When Kyle brings up Dorit’s comment at BravoCon about not knowing who her favorite Richards sister was, Dorit says it was a joke and offers a non-apology, claiming, “I’m sorry if you were hurt.” This leads to Garcelle Beaauvais agreeing with Kyle that Dorit struggles to apologize, something Dorit deflects with a remark about not being Garcelle’s favorite. This exchange leaves the room in an awkward silence as tensions rise.
Dorit and Kyle Make Amends
The next day brings a yacht trip, and the highlight is Sutton’s crush on Captain Theo, who runs the San Diego yacht. The two seem like a perfect match: both around the same age, Theo is handsome, and his haircut suggests he appreciates a good corny joke — which Sutton clearly loves. As they disembark, Kathy Hilton tells Theo that Sutton has something wrong with her leg, so he kindly carries her down the stairs. Dorit, ever the matchmaker, hands Theo Sutton’s number since Sutton is too shy to do it herself. I really hope this works out.
On the yacht, Sutton and Dorit bond when Sutton offers support for Dorit’s divorce, while Garcelle and Kyle share a heartfelt moment about being single mothers with kids about to leave home. Kyle also mentions that PK, Dorit’s husband, has been texting her — something that will be revisited in the next episode.
The biggest drama on the boat, however, is between Dorit and Kyle, who seem to make amends. Kyle apologizes again, and Dorit gives her usual non-apology, but they agree that they both have so much going on and need to support each other rather than fight. Honestly, I kind of wish this fight lasted longer. Usually, I’m ready for the drama to end, but I’m here for more of this feud.
Dinner and Drama
At dinner that night, Sutton stands up and announces she wants to read a speech. After some light roasting of Sutton’s speech, she ties the group together with a ribbon, declaring everyone “sisters.”
Later, Garcelle brings up Dorit’s video of her, Kyle, and Teddi Mellencamp singing onstage with John Mellencamp. The night before, Dorit claimed she wasn’t that close with Teddi. Garcelle points out the hypocrisy, especially since Dorit’s real issue seems to be Kyle saying that she and Teddi weren’t as close as people thought. Dorit tries to clarify, saying she didn’t say she wasn’t “friends” with Teddi, just that they weren’t close. From across the table, Erika Jayne whispers to Kyle, “I don’t think that’s what she said last night.”
Dorit and Sutton Clash
The fight escalates in the Sprinter van. Sutton says she overheard Erika whispering in a way that everyone could hear, but Erika wasn’t being open with the group about what she was saying. Sutton expresses that she doesn’t want to be in a group where people talk behind each other’s backs. Erika, sitting across from her — looking as if she’s wondering how she’s in the drama.
Dorit, argues the example rather than the point. She seeks clarity on what she did or didn’t say about Teddi.
Meanwhile, the group explains that the issue isn’t about Teddi or her specifically; it’s about Erika’s whispers and the fact that they should be able to openly address things with each other and move on. In her confessional, Garcelle comments that Teddi will be thrilled with all the secondhand screen time.
Dorit claims to understand the fight, but she remains fixated on explaining her Teddi repost while the others have moved on. This sparks an argument between Dorit and Sutton about who started yelling first, completely missing the larger point Sutton is trying to make. Dorit then starts screaming at Sutton, despite the fact that Sutton’s frustration was directed at Erika for being phony and whispering under her breath — a point Dorit completely overlooks and misunderstands.
