Guerdy Abraira Updates Fans On Her Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Guerdy Abraira has shared an update on her health following her 2023 breast cancer diagnosis.

“The Real Housewives of Miami” star revealed that her gynecologist discovered a cancerous tumor in her left breast during a routine mammogram in March 2023. Abraira was diagnosed with stage 1B estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer, a type of cancer that relies on estrogen to grow. In June 2023, she underwent a lumpectomy to remove the tumor.

Due to a 36% risk of recurrence, Guerdy Abraira followed the surgery with an intensive treatment plan that included four chemotherapy sessions and 20 rounds of radiation over the course of five months.

Telling Her Sons About Her Cancer Diagnosis Was The ‘Hardest Thing’

In an interview with The U.S. Sun, Guerdy described telling her sons about her cancer diagnosis as the “hardest thing she had to do.”

Guerdy underwent a lumpectomy, followed by chemotherapy and multiple rounds of radiation, and has been remarkably open about her journey throughout the process. Now cancer-free, she recently reflected on her battle, sharing how chemotherapy took a severe toll on her body.

“Chemo will show you your mortality in three seconds,” Guerdy admitted. “It’s no game. For 10 days [after each treatment] I was in bed. Chemo fog is real and I walked like a skeleton — it felt like my bones were about to break.”

Beyond the physical challenges, the experience also became a significant emotional strain on her entire family.
