Amy Hunter to lead the Irish squad

The Irish squad will be captained by Amy Hunter, who has shown remarkable leadership qualities and skill in previous international outings. Niamh MacNulty and Freya Sargent have been named as the vice-captains, providing additional support to the leadership team.

The selection committee has expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to compete at a high level, highlighting the players’ recent performances in domestic competitions and their potential to shine on the international stage. Glenn Querl, the head coach, emphasized the importance of this tournament for the development of women’s cricket in Ireland.

The opportunity to compete in the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia is incredibly exciting for our players. It marks a significant milestone in their cricketing journey. Some players were part of the inaugural tournament in 2023. This is invaluable, as they will be able to fall back on their experience and support the younger players through the journey. Throughout our preparations, this group has demonstrated exceptional talent, dedication, and resilience,” Querl said in his official statement.
