Joe Budden Speaks On Drake’s  Petitions Against Universal Music Group

On a recent episode of Joe Budden’s podcast, Joe didn’t hold back when talking about Drake taking petty to a whole new level with his two legal filings against Universal Music Group. Joe straight-up referred to Drake “selfish and manipulative,” even calling out the ‘Rich Baby Daddy’ spitter for doing some grimey stuff behind the scenes.

“Or he’s a selfish, lying, manipulative sack of s**t, who has made enemies for 15 years. And now where here at the f*****g boiling point. You’ve been behind the scenes being the biggest sack of s**t you can possibly be… And he’s f****g white, and he’s Jewish, and he had too much dip on his chip. You have been behind the scenes hitting n****s baby moms, sending money to n****s baby moms. Yo dawg, been sending messages to n****s wife… Dawg, this n****s been a sack of s**t behind the scenes and because he has fans and Lucien, everybody just turns a blind eye. The blind days are done,” Budden said on the pod.

Here’s The Tea On Drizzy’s Universal Music Group Petitions

Drake had the internet chattin’ when he decided to take his beef with Kendrick Lamar to the court earlier this week. As TSR previously reported, instead of suing Kendrick Lamar directly, the Canadian rapper is going after Universal Music Group. He’s reportedly accusing the label of using “payola schemes” and bots to put K.Dot’s ‘Not Like Us’ diss track, according to TMZ.

Drizzy also claims he got the information from an “inside source” at UMG who says the label paid platforms, including radio stations and influencers, to hype up the track. He’s also allegedly questioning how quickly the song blew up on streaming services like Spotify. If true, Drake allegedly has evidence to show UMG “violated” the payola laws.

Universal Music Groups Responds To Drake

Universal Music Group didn’t let Drizzy slide that easy. The label fired back at his allegations, with a spokesperson denying his claims from the petition on Nov. 25.

“The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue. We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns. No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can mask the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

UMG also told Variety in a separate statement that fans, not the label, decide which music they want to hear. “No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can mask the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear.”
