Marvel Rivals, the new hero shooter based on Marvel comics characters, is gearing up for the start of its first full season. The free-to-play game launched season 0 on Dec. 6 and reached 20 million players in its first few weeks.
The abbreviated season 0 is slated to end next week, meaning we’re approaching the first full (13-week) season. There are a lot of rumors, with relatively little in the way of confirmed details, but here’s what we know about season 1.
Marvel Rivals season 1 start time
Based on battle pass info, season 0 ends at 1 a.m. ET on Friday, Jan 10. It’s possible season 1 could start immediately after season 0, or there might be some downtime for maintenance. After the first season of Overwatch, for example, players waited a couple of weeks for season 2 to start. Marvel Rivals has been moving quickly, so I’d expect any wait to be a few days at most.
New Marvel Rivals heroes for season 1
The Rivals team said we’ll be getting a trailer on Monday for the Fantastic Four — The Invisible Woman, Mr. Fantastic, Human Torch and The Thing. They’re a fitting addition to the game, given its premise that two Doctor Dooms from different timelines are warring for control. Expect the heroes to slot into at least one of each role, giving all players someone new to try.
There have been many other Marvel Rivals leaks recently, including hero models or abilities for characters like Ultron, Emma Frost and Jean Grey. These all have yet to be officially confirmed and may not show up in season 1, but they do suggest a healthy content roadmap for the game, essential for keeping players engaged over the year.
