Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris produced a brilliant moment during the seventh match of the Champions T20 Cup 2024 when he ran out the opposition captain Iftikhar Ahmed with a superb throw at the non-striker’s end.
Haris achieved this brilliance during the match between Stallions and Markhors at Rawalpindi played on December 12. In the 14th over of the first innings when Markhors were batting, Muhammad Shehzad inside-edged a ball toward the fine leg.
Both Shehzad and Iftikhar took the first run casually and seeing that the fielder at fine leg is wide enough, they decided to come back for the second run. The fielder came up with an excellent throw to the wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris, who surprisingly threw the ball towards the non-striker’s end to run out Iftikhar Ahmed.

Stallions captain Mohammad Haris was extremely alert during as he was fully aware where Iftikhar was at that point. On the other hand, Iftikhar Ahmed had no clue that the ball would come towards his end.
Haris’ throw was quick and accurate enough to shock Iftikhar as he continued his walk back towards the pavilion. Haris was mobbed by his teammates after his brilliance as they congratulated him.
Despite being the captain of the team, Iftikhar was careless and didn’t even bother to drag his bat past the crease. He paid the price for it and was ultimately dismissed for 5 off 7 balls. It was his second successive run-out in two games.
Markhors defeat Stallions to move to the top
Meanwhile, Markhors scored 170-6 while batting first on the back of crucial cameos from Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Nafay, Muhammad Shehzad, and Mohammad Nawaz. Zaman and Nafay provided their team with a good start while allrounder Nawaz played a whirlwind knock of 28 off 13 balls in the end. Tahir Hussain and Usman Tariq picked up two wickets apiece for the Stallions.
Chasing 171 to win, Stallions started well but went on the back foot as Yasir Khan was dismissed. Skipper Mohammad Haris played an aggressive cameo at No. 3 as he scored 22 off 16 balls with 1 four and 1 six.
Maaz Sadaqat’s knock goes in vain
Opener Maaz Sadaqat played an excellent knock of 82 off just 53 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes. However, his knock wasn’t enough as Stallions lacked support from their middle order. They were finally reduced to just 167-6 and fell short of the target by 3 runs.
Nisar Ahmed bowled a wonderful spell for Markhors with 3-23. The win over Stallions has put Markhors at the top of the table with three wins in as many games. Meanwhile, the Stallions have been pushed down to the second spot in the points table with 2 wins and 1 defeat.
