Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced the 17-member strong squad for three games of the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. Shreyas Iyer will be leading the team in the tournament after guiding the side to win in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25.
What has been the highlight of the squad is Prithvi Shaw has been dropped from the team for the tournament. The opening batter was earlier dropped from the side in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 then made a comeback into the team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25, but he failed terribly in the tournament.

While opening the batting in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25, Prithvi Shaw looked in horrible touch as the batter slammed just 197 runs in 9 matches. Him getting dropped means the road will be very tough for him now to make a comeback into the team.
Apart from Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane also will be missing the first three games of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 for Mumbai. The batter, as per the reports in Times of India, has asked for a break due to personal reasons and will be joining the squad late.

Suryakumar Yadav included in the Mumbai squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 along with Shivam Dube, Shardul Thakur
India National Cricket Team T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav also has been included in the Mumbai squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. The tournament will be a great opportunity for him to prove his prowess in 50-over cricket, especially with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 around the corner.
Suryakumar Yadav, along with Shreyas Iyer, will be holding the key for Mumbai in the middle order. The tournament will be a great opportunity for both batters to have some game time and rhythm ahead of the international season, and hence, they would be keen to make an impact.
Shivam Dube, too, has made the cut into the Mumbai squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. He will be the all-rounder alongside Suryansh Shedge, who was the hero for the team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 and helped them win the title with his cameos.
In terms of bowling, Mohit Avasthi has been ruled out of the tournament due to the injury. While Shardul Thakur is also among the 17-member Mumbai squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25.

Mumbai are placed in Group C of the Vijay Hazare Trophy alongside Nagaland, Hyderabad, Saurashtra, Punjab, Puducherry, Arunachal Pradesh, and Karnataka. They will open their campaign against Karnataka on December 21 at the Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad.
