Tori Spelling had an emotional reaction when her daughter Stella achieved a major milestone.
“Permitted to Drive 🚗,” Spelling, 51, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, December 10, alongside a photo of her 16-year-old daughter behind the wheel. “So proud of @stella_mcdermott08 . She’s officially on the road with her drivers permit!”
Spelling gushed about how proud she is of Stella for working “hard” which led her to nailing the written test portion. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum also shared that Stella has already “started her driving lessons” and joked that her daughter will be her “personal uber.”
All jokes aside, Spelling also opened up about how much Stella has grown up over the years.
“Life moves pretty fast. But, the rewards are amazing all around,” Spelling reflected. “I can still picture her in her car seat. Me, checking constantly to make sure she was ok in the back. Now, my view is quite different literally, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Couldn’t be more proud of this sweet 16. And, not gonna lie I cried like a baby when she passed.”
Spelling added that her tears were not due to feeling sad, but a moment of “pride.” As Stella learns how to drive, Spelling joked about her timeline to make sure her daughter has reliable transportation.
“Now, I officially have 6 months till she gets her license to figure out a car situation 😂,” she quipped. “I Love you Buggy 🐞.”
In addition to Stella, Spelling shares Liam, 17, Hattie, 13, Finn, 12, and Beau, 7 with ex-husband Dean McDermott. The pair were married for 18 years before Spelling filed for divorce in March. While Spelling and McDermott had their fair share of ups and downs throughout their marriage, the actress recently opened up about how she felt like it was an obligation to remain with McDermott for the sake of their kids.
“I always thought as bad as things might be between my partner and myself, it’s better to have their dad in the house than in a different residence,” Spelling said on the Tuesday episode of her “Misspelling” podcast. “I think that kept me in the relationship far too long. It ultimately, I feel, did a disservice to my kids.”
While Spelling and McDermott ultimately split in the end, she doesn’t regret trying to make their relationship work over the years.
“I think both he and I were in a place where we might have separated and divorced before Beau was born, but we worked on our relationships, stayed together and I’ll never regret not leaving then,” she said. “I’m sure he wouldn’t either because we wouldn’t have had Beau.”
